The Carousing focus Carousing focus.png adds +iii diplomacy and lets the character have small private feasts.

Parties can improve diplomacy skill and opinion in many ways. All attendees get +10 opinion toward the host. Two events let y'all course new friendships (+100 opinion). Several events give the Cheery grapheme modifier, which gives +10 general opinion for two years.

By partying 3 times with this focus, you tin level up to:

  • Carouser (+ane diplomacy)
  • Dedicated Carouser (+ii diplomacy)
  • A choice of lifestyle traits:

By playing games at parties, you can level upwards to:

  • Apprentice Boardgamer (+1 diplomacy)
  • Game primary (+ii diplomacy, +1 martial).

Hosting a political party [edit | edit source]

Invitations [edit | edit source]

Y'all can simply invite other characters in your realm. Both you and invitees must be adults, not at war, non Incapable , and non imprisoned. AI acceptance is largely based on traits rather than stance.

  • Take
    • Much more probable: your courtiers, Drunkard , Hedonist , Decadent
    • More likely: your directly vassals, Lustful , Gregarious , Gluttonous
    • Less likely: Stressed , Chaste , Celibate , Paranoid
    • Much less likely: major disease, Depressed , stance below -25, Temperate , Shy
    • Never: rivals; Muslims who are not decadent/hedonist/drunk
  • Decline
  • Decline and condemn decadence

If someone accepts your invitation, their opinion of y'all increases past 10 (Carousing) and they volition attend your party.

If someone declines your invitation, you lose 3 prestige. If someone declines and condemns decadence, you lot lose x prestige instead. In both cases, for two years you will have -10 stance of them (Declined Invitation) and cannot invite them again during this fourth dimension.

Political party events [edit | edit source]

After iii–4 months, the invited guests arrive at your political party. The party lasts near a month. It will be cancelled if nobody accepts your invitation or if you go to war.

One random effect will happen at your political party, affecting the host and one or all guests. By limiting your guest list, you can make some events impossible, thus making desired events more likely.

  • Talk. Requires 15 affairs. 20% take chances to increase affairs skill. 20% chance to form friendship.
  • Hibernate. Removes dauntless or has 30% run a risk to add together craven .
Cannibalism 2 (or 40) Host or guest is lunatic , possessed , or impaler Host eats* guest, or vice versa!

Gains the carnivorous trait: +3 martial, +1 personal combat, -10 general opinion, 20x more than probable to trigger this consequence

Lunatic amuses 20 Host or guest is lunatic Lunatic gains Cheery for ii years. If lunatic is host, so do all guests. If lunatic is guest, then does the host.
Drunk overdrinks x Host or guest is boozer Drunkard gets the grapheme modifier Epic Hangover for one twelvemonth (-2 affairs). Observer opinion of boozer is inverse by -10 for 4 years (Despise drunkard), or +10 for 4 years (Gained Respect) if too drunkard.
Tabletop games 10 (or 30) Always possible; 3x more probable if host or invitee is Game master
  • Host chooses whether to bet 5 wealth on the outcome of the game
  • Host gains the Amateur Boardgamer grapheme modifier (+i diplomacy) if they win
  • Host is very likely to win if Smart

A * indicates that players can make up one's mind to override their graphic symbol'southward inclination. This may cause their character to proceeds a bad trait due to cerebral dissonance.

This event triggers for the host and all guests.

Ambition events [edit | edit source]

If your affairs is less than 8, these events can trigger, each with a MTTH of 280 months:

  • The Mirror (once per lifetime)
  • The Suicide (once per lifetime) (not in hiding)
  • Town Crier (not in hiding)
  • Foreign Cultures
  • Former Diplomat (not Indian organized religion)

Strategies [edit | edit source]

Go Apprentice Boardgamer for +one affairs:

  • Likely if you invite a game primary .
  • Guaranteed if you only invite characters who are already your friends and cannot trigger special events.

Go Cheery for +10 full general stance:

Brand friends:

  • With powerful vassals.
  • With councilors, and then they are likely to pick the Loyalist stance and support your actions in quango votes.
  • With an eligible skilled character, if you have whatever skill betwixt five and ix.
  • With a celibate character, if yous already have ii kids and don't desire more. Note: event 100240 requires not having a lifestyle trait, fifty-fifty though celibate is no longer a lifestyle trait.
  • With courtiers of other religions, equally there is an event that can fire to convert them to your religion or you to their religion.
